This past Wednesday I had my expanders taken out and my “permanent” implants put in. This surgery marked the end of my cancer related surgeries. Hopefully, the new boobs will settle in and not cause any problems. It was a fairly simple surgery and I was able to go to Benji’s musical that evening and I spent the next day shopping with my mom and sister. I’m a little sore and can’t reach the stuff on the high shelf, but in a few weeks I should be back to normal.
We also found out that Ben is headed to Korea in June. We are still waiting to hear if we’ll be going with him. Don’t worry, we’ll let everyone know if and when that happens. It’s the Army, nothing is for sure until it is all on paper and we are in an airplane.
With the majority of the cancer stuff behind me, I’m focusing on getting healthy to keep cancer from coming back. I’ve started juicing, almost every day. I’m exercising to make my body strong. I gained weight during chemo and now that I’m finished with the steroids, I’m hoping to get back to a healthy weight. I am only eating seafood and no other meat, because my cancer was hormone positive so I’m avoiding them in everything. Obviously, it is going to take time and hard work to get the weight off, but I’m motivated. I have set a goal for myself that by August I’ll be back to my pre-cancer weight or below. I figure that will be the one year anniversary of my diagnosis and I’ll be better than I was in August of 2012. If you have any tips or ideas for speeding that process up, without taking pills. I’m all ears.
So, that’s where I am and where I’m headed. I’m nervous, I’m determined, I’m excited. I’d love to hear how you are doing, so send me and email or text me or call me or even send me a letter to let me know what’s new with you.
