Thanksgiving was wonderful this year. Ben was off work Wednesday, Thursday and Friday! The kids were still in school Wednesday and Friday so we had some time together without the kids. Thursday was a laid back day of eating and playing video games and of course watching football.
My parents bought us an X-Box 360 and so on Wednesday we headed to a local retailer to buy the super addictive game “Guitar Hero 3.” I am not kidding you, this game gets in your system and starts to take over. Colby can’t get enough of the song “Slow Ride” and Benji doesn’t stop dancing until his head hits the pillow. I am married to a guitar hero…3…
Yesterday I realized the importance of just taking days off, as a family. We spent all day playing, eating, watching football. This is a good thing and a great way to just be together. I think sometimes we get so caught up in our routines that we miss the opportunities to connect. This weekend was about connecting and just being a family. After being apart so much this holiday season is going to be a time for our family to be together and really get back to each other.
As for Ben and I, I don’t think we’ve ever been closer. Our relationship is at a peak right now and being able to have lunch together without kids a couple times a week really helps us. By talking more we are able to communicate better…makes sense, huh? I am excited about where we are and where we are headed.
